Cane Toads An Unnatural History (1987)

Film details

Documentary with a humourous style. In 1935 the bufo marinus toad (or cane toad) was imported into Queensland from Hawaii, as a measure against a parasite which devastated the sugar cane harvest. Since then the species has developed into a plague moving inland at a rate of 27 kilometres every year, upsetting the ecological balance. Looks at how it has become common in Queensland and viewed affectionately by locals. Also at how its venom has been used to create hallucinogenic drugs and at its breeding habits.
