Synopsis

Japan during the 1930's: a Japanese professor of German, whilst on holiday, meets an old friend who had been expelled from the university. The friend has been accused of murdering the woman who ran off with him. The professor helps him and is dragged into his strange life, with its hints of witchcraft.
