Follows Avital Shcharansky's five-year campaign to obtain her husband Anatoly's release from the Soviet prison, where he is serving a 13 year sentence imposed in 1978. He was accused of spying for the CIA and of 'anti-Soviet activity'. In the Autumn of 1982, he began a four month hunger strike. Includes interviews with Avital herself and with friends and colleagues of her husband who underwent similar experiences before their exile to the West.
