Drama centred around miners in a Welsh colliery. David Goliath is a black American sailor who, stranded in Cardiff, finds work in Bleandy Colliery, a South Wales coal mine. With his wonderful singing voice, he is accepted into the local choir, moving in to live in the choirmasters house. When an underground explosion causes the mine to be closed, the miners march in protest to London. At this time, war is imminent, the miners gain official support and they return to prepare the pit for opening. In accomplishing this, Goliath blows himself up in order to free his trapped comrades.
