Revenge drama. Shanker sees his father killed before him, whilst his mother and sister are trapped in their burning house. He tries to avenge himself against the landowner responsible, but only suceeds in blinding him. Shanker loses his faith in God and becomes a 'nastik' (atheist). He is forced to leave the village for the big city. There he becomes a petty criminal, pairing up with Balbir, another petty thief and Gauri.
