Biopic in four sections about the life of the novelist and playwright Yukio Mishima, ranging from experiences in childhood and the war, to the development of his sexual and political ideas and formation of his Shield Society. After a demonstration at the Eastern Army headquarters, with some of his cadet followers, he ties and gags General Mashita, and addresses the troops, exhorting them to restore Japan to its old ways. He then sets about committing seppuku (ritual suicide).
