Synopsis

Lord Beaverbrook, founder of Express Newspaper Group, was Britain's first media baron. Born in Canada, he rose from nowhere to become a member of the Cabinet during both World Wars, a close friend of Churchill and an apparently repected member of the establishment. During his lifetime, he was too power- ful for anyone to speak out but now, thirty years after his death, those who knew him well tell the story of his immense power, his magnetic personality and his amazing private life. Contributors include Michael Foot, Barbara Cartland, Sir John Junor, granddaughter Lady Jean Campbell, Chapman Pincher, greatnephew Jonathan Aitken and niece Lady Aitken. Archive film includes a Rebecca West interview and the Mountbattens frolicking with mistress Jean Norton.
