In the reign of Napoleon I, a child actress in a provincial troupe is taken to Paris by an actor who recognises her talent. She is successful and wins a million francs in a lottery. Placing the money with a family for education, she gives all the money to a Soldiers' Orphanage, marries her benefactor and goes back to the theatre.
