Four young people from Noadswood Comprehensive Shool, near Nottingham worked for two years on an experimental technology project to produce a simple directional device to receive ships' radar transmissions which could be used in small boats. Follows the course of the project from start to close. Intended for secondary schools At a school near Southampton a group undertook a project to reduce collision-risks at sea by enabling small ships without radar to detect larger vessels by picking up the latter's radar transmissions. The group's final version represented an efficient marine safety aid.
