Synopsis

Examines the effects of the new government policy of 'Community Care for the Elderly' through the eyes of health service staff and the elderly themselves. Raises the issue of not only whether the elderly are receiving adequate care from the NHS, but also whether the implementation of the new policy will involve basic infringement of the human rights of many elderly people as they are moved from the state to the private sector. The video also monitors the use of the two tapes made by NHS doctors and nurses in the Brighton and Hove area on these issues, from which the present material is extracted.
