Shows the work of Brindle House, a community health centre in Hyde, Cheshire, which offers out-patient treatment to men and women who might otherwise have to go into mental hospitals. Patients are treated in an informal and friendly atmosphere. There are no white coats, nurses or drugs trolleys, and social workers outnumber doctors and staff. Shows how several patients respond, including someone suffering from acute depression and a young couple unable to lead a normal emotional life after the still-birth of their child.
