Synopsis

Report on Alzheimers Disease which has been proved to be a much more common cause of pre-senile and senile dementia than had been assumed by doctors, and describing, through case histories of sufferers, the symptoms and the lack of cure. Following a report by the Royal College of Physicians, looks at this fatalilllness which causes dementia and is estimated to affect as many as one in twelve of the elderly population of Britain. Includes interviews with Prof. Arthur Exton-Smith, chairman of the committee which drew up the report and with Dr. Klaus Bergmann, another of its authors, together with the relatives of a number of sufferers.
