Synopsis

Made for the BBC series on the history of Impressionism, this film illustrates the Scottish contribution to the period when light itself became the most important element in painting. There is an interview with Sir William McTaggart who describes his own work and that of his grandfather, relating it to the Scottish landscape itself as well as to contemporary landscape paintings in Scotland The Scottish contribution to Impressionism, with emphasis on Sir William McTaggert.
