Account of the domestic life of Edith Bouvier Beale (known as 'Big Edie') and her daughter Edith Beal (known as 'Little Edie'), who lived together in a run-down mansion in East Hampton, on the Long Island coast. Intimate conversations are interspersed with private celebrations (Big Edie's birthday party) and 'public' reminiscences of their past life in New York high society.
