Copenhagen-set musical in which Karen Svenson, a switchboard operator of a telephone company, when arranging a date with a caller, is told she will know him by the song he will be singing. However, there is a misunderstanding at the pre-arranged spot and she ends up on a date with the wrong man (who happened to be singing the same tune). The man is her employer, Paul Hendrick, although both are unaware of the situation. In turn, the man Karen had arranged to meet ends up on date with the woman Paul was supposed to have met. Both couples go to Ciro's restauarant, where they actually swop partners for a dance at one point, and Karen and Paul win matching table lamps at an adjoining fairground. Karen and Paul have fallen in love, but confusion reigns the following morning when Karen cannot find Paul again as the telephone number she has is for the man she missed, who also turns out to be married. Now believing Paul to be married she is constantly rude to callers and is fired. But her uncle, who also works at the same company, realises what has happened when he sees one of the matching table lamps in Paul's office, and is succesfull in bringing the lovers back together again.
