"The motive of the drama is a woman's sacrifice of social position and a life of luxury to join her fiance in his banishment from civilisation, and her realisation, when it is too late, of the terrible thing she has done in ordaining that her son shall be born branded and unable to escape from the vile atmosphere of the convict settlement.
