Film details

Film biography of the youth of Winston Churchill, incorporating his childhood in the aristocractic surrounds of Blenheim Palace, his school days at Harrow, his work as a war correspondent during the Boer War, his participation in the First World War (featuring a daring escape from South Africa, where he was wanted by the State) and his election to Parliament. The film also examines the personalities of Churchill's parents, his glamorous American socialite mother Jennie, and his often stern father, Conservative statesman Lord Randolph Churchill, whose health became blighted by a venereal disease.
