The play has been given melodramatic screen treatment. It sets out to exploit the theme that money is the root of all evil, the story revolves around an unscrupulous financier who measures the reputations of all women in terms of cash, and he adheres to his theory that any woman can be bought at a price, till he precipitates a double domestic crisis, as a result of which he is murdered. In turn, the murder intensifies the domestic crisis in two homes and dramatic intrigue and suspense are sustained till the end.
