Film details

The Earl of Petherton dies after never recovering from the apparent death of his son and heir Harold. After his death, the title goes to a distant relative, George Wilson-Howard but he soon finds out that Harold is still alive. After the new Earl is blackmailed by a family friend, he agrees to bring up Harold alongside his own son Victor and Ruth, another child who is under his care. Many years later Victor has joined the army while Harold has entered the Church. But their relationship is complicated by the fact they are both in love with Ruth and that Harold has now learnt that he is the real Earl.
