Horror. At the Department of Psychiatric Medicine, Dr Tremayne demonstrates new psychiatric techniques to a sceptical friend, Nicholas, by relating four case studies. "Mr Tiger": Paul, lonely six year old son of bickering Sam and Fay, has invented an invisible 'friend'. However, it is a tiger, and huge paw marks are the first indication it may not be entirely imaginary. "Penny Farthing": Timothy, an antiques dealer, acquires a penny farthing which transports him back to Victorian times where he meets Beatrice, who looks very much like his girlfriend Ann. "Mel": Brian, a successful architect, falls in love with a tree marked with the name "Mel", much to the disgust of his wife Bella. "Luau": Auriol organises a surprise Polynesian party for Kimo, whose aide Keoki prepares the meat. But he kills Auriol's daughter Ginny to provide it. Auriol tastes it and goes insane. Nicholas has Tremayne taken away, assuming him insane. But when Nicholas enters a room where the four patients are gathered, a tiger attacks him.
