The story of a bombing attack on a German rocket-fuel factory in 1944. Situated at the top of a Norwegian fiord under an over-hanging cliff, a surprise aerial attack by Mosquitoes is planned. Roy Grant, an American ace, is given command of R.A.F. 633 Squadron. Erik Bergman, a Norwegian resistance leader whose information has led to the operation, goes back to organise a co-ordinating ground attack. Bergman is captured and tortured into betrayal before Grant leads an attack to destroy the Gestapo head-quarters where he is held. The final raid is made with nearly total losses but the last bomb hits the target.

The following statement regarding the story appears after the opening credits: 'This story is inspired by the exploits of the Royal Air Force and Commonwealth Mosquito air crews during World War II.'
