Comedy. Corby Lane, a rich young lady from New York, travels to the little Arkansas town of Progress, with the idea of dispensing anonymous gifts to repay the people who saved her life when, as a baby, she was passing through. Her plan backfires when her excessive generosity causes more trouble than joy for the recipients. Meanwhile, she begins to fall for the town's doctor, Robert Sellers, who is never short of a date, such as the pretty local Sally, who is forever bringing him jars of homemade coleslaw. Sellers' heart seems intent, however, on catching in the river a certain whopper of a fish, which he calls Hercules. Sellers is suspicious of Corby from the start, as she is going by the name Corby Johnson, yet her luggage features the initials CL. Corby's problems are compounded when her extravagance gets the town known widely as a wonderful place for greedy people, con artists and freeloaders.
