Film details


The story of a shopkeeper's daughter in an industrial midlands town. She falls in love with Gerald runs away to London with him, and then marries him in Paris. Gerald becomes dissolute, and loses their money, leaving his wife ill. Eventually she recovers and gains prosperity running a boarding house. The rest of the family lose touch with her, but are re-united under strange circumstances...
