Lucky Partners (1940)

Film details

Comedy. A man wishes a woman good luck as they pass in the street one morning. The woman, Jean Newton, soon has a piece of good luck. She tracks down the man, an artist going by the name David Grant, and suggests they go halves on a horserace ticket, in case their luck holds. Grant agrees to this on one condition: that if they win a fortune, before marrying her fiancé Freddie, who doesn't plan to take her on honeymoon till some time after they're married, Jean will join him, Grant, on a wonderful honeymoon-like trip (on a strictly impersonal basis). He talks Jean and Freddie into this plan, and numerous complications ensue, involving a new car, Niagara Falls, adjacent hotel rooms, a valuable painting, a controversial old book and a courtroom where the unspoken emotional truth must, under oath, be told.
