In 1893 Paris, Charles Garrie, a young sculptor, has rented a studio in the Latin Quarter of the city, formerly belonging to another sculptor, Minetti. Garrie was in love with Minetti's wife who had disappeared. Through a medium, the spirit of the wife reveals that she had been murdered by Minetti and hidden in one of his statues.
