Synopsis
Crime story for children. Jean's father owns a jeweller's shop. He gets a commission to repair a very valuable diamond necklace. While he is examining the piece, a customer, who is acting rather suspiciously, enters the shop. He overhears the delivery arrangements that Jean's father and the owner of the necklace are making. The next day, when Jean and her father set off to return the jewellery to its owner, they are being followed by a car. A chase commences, and Jean's father is forced to pull his car over. Jean manages to escape, holding on to her Teddy tightly. She reaches a canal and jumps on a barge that is passing, still being followed by one of the men. In the events that follow, the girl constantly double crosses the gangsters, hiding the necklace in her Teddy at first, and on the barge later on, always misleading the gangsters and keeping ahead of the game. In the end, the gang is arrested by the police. The final tableau shows a tea-party, and everyone who has helped to catch the gangsters, is seated around a large table.
