Writer John North leaves his wife and runs away with his publisher's wife. En route he changes his mind, pulls the communication cord and leaves the train. Stopping the train causes a crash with many casualties - he feels guilty and confesses to his wife that he had planned to run away with another woman. The police discover that the publisher's wife was shot before the train crash and try to arrest North for her murder. He tracks down the publisher, who shot his wife then planted his own documents on a body in the crash. The publisher shoots North, who then wakes up on the train with the publisher's wife, pulls the communication cord and runs back to his wife. [Newspaper lists the victims of the crash, among the names are: Jack Hanbury, Joan Davis, Reg Hill, Erwin Hillier, Ivan King and Lt Desmond Mavis]
