Comedy drama. Little Tommy Evans is picked up by police for stealing milk to feed his three hungry cats. Assistant district attorney Bill Gordon recognizes Tommy's aunt Helen, and they start seeing each other frequently. Tommy and his brother Charlie become jealous. Helen is accosted by gangsters who tell her to inform Bill to keep off the Bernard case. Tommy and Charlie disrupt Bill as he rehearses a speach, and he tells them they will have to go to boarding school when he and Helen marry. Helen asks Bill to leave, but becomes depressed without him. The boys decide to bring him back. Two criminals from the Bernard case determine to kill Bill and go to his apartment, but Tommy and Charlie get there first. They are taken hostage, but Charlie escapes, and Bill is saved, but Tommy is wounded. Bill and the boys return to Helen.
