Social drama. A working-class schoolboy, Jack Reed, is accepted as an experiment at Saintbury public school in accordance with the Fleming Report. At first he has problems fitting in and his reception by pupils and staff alike is not encouraging or friendly, and there are clashes and misunderstandings caused by cultural attitudes and customs.
