Synopsis
At Marks Priory, Lady Lebanon is eager for her son, Lord Lebanon, to marry Isla Crane, his cousin. She is reluctant to do so, and is also frightened by the two footmen of the household who she suspects of locking her in her room at night. Following a village dance, the household's chauffeur is found strangled with an Indian scarf. Suspicion falls on Dr. Amersham, a friend of Lady Lebanon's, when Lord Lebanon tells the police that the doctor had once lived in India, and then a collection of scarves are found in his home. The police lay a trap for the killer using Isla as bait. When Isla is attacked, the killer is revealed as Lord Lebanon who has bouts of insanity, something he inherited from his father. Lady Lebanon, aware of the fate that may have befallen her son, had hired the two mysterious footmen to shadow the Lord's moves.
