Introduction
The writing team of Dorothy Hope and Katherine Strueby combined with director George King to tell the story of a British agent (James Mason) and an American sculptor (Carla Lehmann) combining forces to outwit the Nazis, who are hoping to disrupt a meeting of the Vichy French and the Allies.
The Canadian Lehmann was resident in the UK during the war and starred in half a dozen other propaganda films including Cottage to Let (1941). This noirish thriller was handsomely lensed by Otto Heller, who later photographed The Ipcress File (1965).
