Film details


Old Bill, having eaten tinned lobster in the trenches, dreams that he is William the Conqueror, a baron persuading King John to sign Magna Carta, a courtier at the time of Queen Elizabeth who takes Shakespeare to the court to give a reading, then joins Drake at Plymouth Hoe, and a commoner at the time of the Civil War. He wakes to find that the war is over.

Note: Reviews mention a sequence covering the Boston Tea Party. This is missing from the NFTVA print. Bruce Bairnsfather appears as himself.
