A racketeering gangster forces a weak-willed chemist into a racket of substituting medicines for his own lower standard ones but selling them for the same price. The chemist is put into a grave dilema when his wife becomes ill and nearly dies when she takes the worthless substitute medicines rather than the real thing. The chemist finally rebels against the gangster and kills him, disposing of the body in a bath of acid.
