Synopsis
Drama. Major George Daviot's wife walks out on him as they are about to go for a weekend in the country. Over a game of cards in the evening, Daviot is accused of cheating and another of the party backs up the accusation because he knows that Daviot is having an affair with his wife. Daviot is persuaded by his friends not to take the matter to court, but Daviot's life unravels as word gets round that he is a cheat, and he becomes increasingly isolated. A year on, those friends return to persuade Daviot that the time has come for him to clear his name, and a court case ensues.
