Ocean Terminal (1952)

Film details

Documentary of Southampton Docks as the starting point for the world's largest liners. The story is told through the work of a tug skipper, a member of his crew, a stewardess on a cape boat, an assistant wharfinger in charge of handling baggage and freight, a taxi-driver and a pilot taking a liner down Southampton water at night. Two versions of this film were made one in 1952 and another 1961. The two films are virtually the same, but do have differences in some places. Gracie Fields appears in the first version only, Reel 3 (520-535ft).
