Native Land (1942)

Film details

Contains sixteen re-enactments of gross violations of civil rights which were recorded by the LaFollette-Thomas Congressional Committee of the US Senate in the late 1930s as well as by Leo Huberman's book `The Labour spy racket', intercut with documentary footage, with narration and song by Paul Robeson. The events re-enacted include the tarring and feathering of three trade union supporters by members of the Ku Klux Klan, sharecroppers demanding a living wage hunted down and killed by the local sheriff's deputies, and a union representative found beaten to death in his apartment.
