Melodrama. Ethel Saxon is convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of her husband, primarily due to the influence of jury foreman Edward Weldon who is a stickler for the law and its processes being followed. However, at the same time Ethel is going to the electric chair, Weldon's own daughter is involved in the shooting of a gangster, Garboni, with whom she was in love and desparate because he was leaving her. Her father insists on the police becoming involved, but the District Attorney makes a case throwing doubt on events, speculating it is delusions from an over-active imagination and that because she can only remember firing one shot and three are missing from Garboni's gun chamber his death was gang-related.
