With its notorious opening sequence and succession of outlandish and arresting images, Un Chien andalou has always shocked and bemused. Dalí and Buñuel claimed that their first collaboration on film was merely a succession of jokes and that the action was dictated purely by dream logic, resistant to rational analysis.
