Red Beard

Toshiro Mifune stars in this ‘intimate epic’ as a doctor in a nineteenth-century rural hospital that is in desperate need of modernisation. An ambitious young intern, to his horror, finds himself posted to this backwater and is tutored by Mifune to appreciate that care for the poor is more important than a society practice.
