Another World Cinema Project restoration is this welcome reminder of the late, great Filipino filmmaker and activist Lino Brocka. Here he delivers an angry yet compassionate portrait of urban hardship during the Martial Law era, as a determined young man arrives in Manila in search of his girlfriend, yet finds himself mired in the effects of poverty and corruption.
Restored in 2013 by the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Cineteca di Bologna/L'Immagine Rirtrovata laboratory, in association with The Film Foundation's World Cinema Project, LVN, Cinema Artists Philippines and Mike de Leon. Restoration funded by Doha Film Institute.
