Jon Spira

Jon Spira is a documentary filmmaker and writer based in London. He directed the feature-length documentaries Anyone Can Play Guitar and Elstree 1976. From 2013 to 2016, he was the in-house documentary filmmaker and video-based interviewer for the BFI. He has written on the subject of film for The Daily Telegraph, The Huffington Post and many online blogs and zines. Jon’s book Videosyncratic, a rough-and-tumble first-hand account of the UK video rental industry, is available now at the BFI Store and Amazon.co.uk
